The Northeastern Pennsylvania Metropolitan Planning Organization (NEPA MPO) invites the public to participate in a planning process aimed at updating the region’s Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) for Carbon, Monroe, Pike and Schuylkill counties. The plan is a multimodal document that addresses all transportation modes and establishes public policy for their improvement. A primary element of the plan includes the identification of future projects to be considered for programming.
The NEPA MPO has established a series of “listening session” open houses in each of its counties to obtain public input. Members of the public are invited to stay for as little or as long as desired to provide feedback and discuss transportation concerns with officials from NEPA and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). The open houses will be held at the following locations and times:
- Carbon County – Tuesday, September 24, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the Carbon County Administration Building, 2 Hazard Square, 3rd Floor, Jim Thorpe
- Monroe County – Tuesday, September 24, from 2:30 to 4:00 PM at the Monroe County Safety Center, 100 Gypsum Road, Stroudsburg
- Pike County – Tuesday, September 24, from 10:30 to 12:00 PM at the Pike County Emergency Training Center, 135 Pike County Boulevard, Blooming Grove
- Schuylkill County – Wednesday, September 25, from 10:30 to 12:00 PM at the Schuylkill Haven Neighborhood/Senior Center, 340 Haven Street, Schuylkill Haven
Events at each county open house will follow the same format. Residents may attend any county session but are encouraged to attend the event in their home county.
NEPA also invites the public to participate in an online transportation survey, which is available at https://NEPA-LRTP.metroquest.com.
