Finding the Funding & Grant Writing Basics

This seminar is intended to introduce the basics as well as the nuances of effective grant preparation and submission strategies. Participation in this seminar offers an opportunity to learn new approaches in grant writing and how to increase your chances of getting funded. Additionally, the participants will learn how to research and identify eligible private and government funding sources through a variety of websites and online tools, including the Foundation Center's Online Directory. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is required and space is limited.

Who should attend? Community leaders, nonprofit managers and directors, grant writers, development directors, volunteers, governmnet officials, community relations officers, funders, foundation representatives.

This seminar is intended to assist nonprofits in finding and utilizing statistical and demographic information to strengthen grant proposals and funding requests. Statistical comparisons and demographic information are often used to develop strong problem/need statements that asist fund seekers informulating a case for their funding request. Statistics often "prove" the need for certain programs or services and they can be sued to support th overall purpose for a nonprofit or community group.

This workshop will include a hands-on demonstration which will allow participants conduct online searches to find funders that best match their mission, geography, services, and funding area needs.

How to Write an Effective Letter of Intent

This seminar is intended to provide nonprofits with the basic knowledge and skills to write an effective Letter of intent. Letters of intent are fast becoming the pre-qualification approach preferred by funders. Crafting comprehensive Letters of intent is essential when seeking to obtain funding for your organization. Attendees will learn the standard template for structuring a Letter of intent, suggested content and etiquette. Participants will have up to three months after this course to submit a Letter of intent to NCAC staff for review.
