In response to the growing challenges facing our local governments in Northeastern Pennsylvania, NEPA assembled a professional local government services staff with a wide array of expertise in municipal operations, government administration, community planning, program development, project management and resource identification. To better serve our region’s needs, the Local Government Services Division is focusing our staff’s professional talents aimed toward addressing the requests and referrals for assistance we receive from municipalities. In addition to developing a service provider relationship with our communities, efforts are directed toward developing relationships with other Federal, State and Local agencies, advocacy organizations, private sector consultants as well as professional resources services and institutions with the intention of extending valuable information and professional assistance to local governments throughout the region. NEPA seeks to offer our staff’s professional resource in this type of scenario, across many situations including Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code (MPC) compliance, comprehensive planning, proposals for funding assistance, preparation of bid documents, program administration, ordinance codification, community visioning, municipal operations, municipal finance, project management and other forms of assistance. The depth and breadth of our staff’s professional experience and qualifications offer a means for local governments to successfully take a policy initiative from conception to the implementation stage. Many of these services are provided through multiple Federal and State contracts which are reviewed and modified annually to meet the ever changing demands of the 267 municipalities in our region. Additionally, NEPA serves as the coordinating agency for rural transportation planning in the rural region that includes Carbon, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill and Wayne counties.
