RPO-Transit Programs
NEPA, as the designated Rural Planning Organization (RPO) for the five county region including Carbon, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill and Wayne counties, is announcing the opening of the application round for the F.Y. 2008-2009 Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC) & New Freedom Programs.
These programs have been derived from the current Federal Transportation Bill known as Safe, Accountable, Flexible, and Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users or commonly referred to as SAFETEA-LU. SAFETEA-LU, which was signed into law by President Bush on August 10, 2005, authorized funding for federal surface transportation programs over six years through Federal Fiscal Year 2009.

As required by PennDOT and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), NEPA has scheduled a project review session for the NPRTPO Transit Subcommittee on May 15, 2008 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Each applicant/project sponsor will be invited to attend the meeting and provide a brief (5-10 minute) presentation to the committee on the proposed project. Participation in the review session is not mandatory. The NPRTPO Transit Subcommittee will provide a funding/project approval recommendation to the NPRTPO Committee for approval. The NPRTPO Committee must submit a final funding/project recommendation to PennDOT by May 30, 2008.
