Jeffrey Box, President & CEO of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance is pleased to announce that Kate McMahon has joined the staff as a Government Services Specialist.

Kate will provide planning, guidance and technical assistance to local governments. She will assist with administering the Pennsylvania Energy Partnership (PEP) Program which includes identifying energy experts & contractors, bulk purchasing opportunities, advocacy and policy initiatives in NEPA’s service area of Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill and Wayne counties; telecomm/broadband initiatives; Focus 81; the Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) in partnership with PennDOT and other special projects of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance.

Kate, a native of Scranton, attended Scranton High School and graduated in 1996.  She received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History from the University of Scranton in 2000. Following graduation, Kate moved to Washington, D.C. and worked for the Independent Petroleum Association and the National Small Business Association.  In 2002, she was hired by Congressman Paul E. Kanjorski and held several positions within his Washington office until being promoted to Legislative Director in 2007.  In August 2010, she returned to Northeastern Pennsylvania to become Congressman’s Kanjorski’s District Director and held this position until December 2010.  Kate currently resides in Pittston with her husband Jeff Demko.
