Dickson City Tire Safety Event

Dickson City Tire Safety Event On April 26, 2007,Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance (NEPA), Focus 81 Committee, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), AAA North Penn, Jack Williams Tire Company, 98.5 KRZ, sponsored a Free Tire Safety Clinic at Jack Williams Tire – Dickson City Store 630 Scranton/Carbondale Highway Scranton, PA 18508 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Research sponsored by the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) shows that only 19% of drivers properly check their tires. Accordingly, a free tire safety clinic was held for the public to coincide with National Tire Safety Week which runs from April 22nd – April 28th. Motorists had their tires checked for proper inflation and wear, received a free tire air pressure gauge and tread depth gauge and obtained tips on proper tire care and maintenance. In addition, representatives from PennDOT, the State Police, AAA North Penn and Jack Williams Tire were available to answer questions and 98.5 KRZ radio was onsite to promote the event.

PPHQ These awards are presented annually by PPHQ to recognize a person, partner, business or organization that has demonstrated support and/or works to improve transportation interests in Pennsylvania . The Focus 81 Committee was selected as a winner under the “Partner in Progress” award category in April 2004.

I-81 Traffic Enforcement Pull-Over Areas/Inspection Sites – News Conference

I-81 Traffic Enforcement The Focus 81 coalition, including our elected officials, the PSP and PennDOT worked to facilitate the creation of additional areas for the State Police to safely pull over speeding motorists in the ongoing effort to increase the safety of this targeted section of Interstate 81. A news conference featuring Lt. Colonel Ralph Periandi, Deputy Commissioner of Operations for the Pennsylvania State Police was held on June 22, 2004.

Share the Road Event

Share the Road Focus 81, SAFE 80, NEPA and our state legislators teamed up to bring the American Trucking Associations “Share the Road” program to Northeast Pennsylvania on November 6, 2003. This national educational awareness demonstration program offers automobile drivers an enlightening perspective about safely traveling our nation’s roadways together with tractor-trailers.
