Over the past year, Local Development Districts (LDD's) helped to create or retain ONE job for every $347 invested by the Commonwealth; 1,844 jobs were created and 8,118 jobs were retained through programs offered in business financing, export development and government contracts.

As one of the seven Local Development Districts (LDD's), federally designated by the Appalachian Regional Commission, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance (NEPA) is a regional multi-county economic development agency providing leadership, planning, expertise and services to regional and local governments, ;businesses, institutions and individuals through innovative and beneficial collaborations and partnerships to enhance the economic and community development of Northeastern Pennsylvania. NEPA helps ensure the success of businesses, local governments, nonprofit and economic development organizations in Northeastern Pennsylvania that play a critical role in the economy of our region.

NEPA utilizes the exceptional abilities of our professional staff and volunteers by:

• helping entrepreneurs, small and mid-sized businesses to access capital, diversify their existing markets and receive the assitance in launching or expanding their operations


• providing assistance in municipal operations, government administration, community planning, program development, grantwriting, project management and resource identification.
The Northeastern Pennsylvania Nonprofit and Community Assistance Center(NCAC), a nonprofit, 501(c)3 affiliate agency of NEPA provides assistance to nonprofit organizations and communities in Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike Schuylkill and Wayne Counties. NCAC is committed to helping nonprofits and community organizations find funding opportunities. Examples of the results achieved during the July 1, 2010 - June 30, 2011 fiscal year include:

- 572 jobs were created or retained in the region through our Enterprise Development Programs
- 182 individuals were trained through the Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP)
- 381 nonprofits received training or assistance through the Northeastern Pennsylvania Nonprofit & Community Assistance Center(NCAC)
- 86 information requests were provided by performing detailed economic impact analysis
